merde à la fin!!

While the high school and university protests have toned down over the “All Saints break”, they are likely to resume with the end of said break. Especially if the all-inclusive week-end demonstrations à la gilets jaunes continue further into the Fall. The issue with this generic, one-size-fits-all, type of protests is that they do not leave much space for negotiations, due to both a lack of representatives and conflicting claims. One target of the high school students’ ire is the current selection process to access higher education, Parcoursup, which collects students’ projects with university positions. Some denounce it as purely algorithmic (which it is not, since we spend days going through the collected applications), others as unfair and discriminating (since based on high school grades and recommendations), yet others as against a principle of free choice for higher education studies, (which would obviously prove impossible) in direct opposition with those contesting the existence of training programs with no job at the end… Add to these variates a government with no majority in Parliement, no budget and an exploding debt, and you end up with an unsolvable equation!
