The Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris (FSMP) provides funding for 20 years of post-doctoral fellowships in mathematics and in computer science for the 2018-2019 academic year. (Meaning you cannot expect a position in Paris for the coming 20 years!) Appointed fellows will hold one or two-year positions in affiliated research laboratories, starting in October 2018. This program is supported by Université Paris Sciences Lettres (PSL). If you are interested in applying for one of these fellowships, please register online. Note that the deadline is December 1!

Lawrence Murray sent me a call for two postdoc positions in computational statistics and machine learning. In Uppsala, Sweden. With deadline November 17. Definitely attractive for a fresh PhD! Here are some of the contemplated themes:
(1) Developing efficient Bayesian inference algorithms for large-scale latent variable models in data rich scenarios.
(2) Finding ways of systematically combining different inference techniques, such as variational inference, sequential Monte Carlo, and deep inference networks, resulting in new methodology that can reap the benefits of these different approaches.
(3) Developing efficient black-box inference algorithms specifically targeted at inference in probabilistic programs. This line of research may include implementation of the new methods in the probabilistic programming language Birch, currently under development at the department.

Chris Drovandi sent me the information that the Statistics Group, QUT, Brisbane, is advertising for three positions:
- Professor in Statistical Data Science (Remuneration package from $AUD206,729 per year)
- Lecturer in Statistical Data Science (Remuneration package of $AUD108,796 to $AUD129,209 per year)
- PhD Scholarship in Computational Bayesian Statistics ($AUD35,000 per year tax-free for 3 years, with an additional $AUD5,000 per year for project costs)
This is a great opportunity, a very active group, and a great location, which I visited several times, so if interested apply before October 1.
ABC postdoc in Olso

Jukka Corander sent me the announcement that he is opening a 3 year postdoctoral position at the University of Oslo, to work with him and his team on ABC projects.
This sounds quite an exciting offer, plus gives the nominee the opportunity to live in the most enjoyable city of Oslo for several years in fairly comfy conditions! The deadline is May 31. (If I was at a stage of my career where applying made sense, I would definitely candidate. Not even waiting for the outcome of the French elections on May 7!)
